Determination of Manganese in Plant Tissues by Neutron Activation Analysis .

Abstract
|
|
|
Contents of manganese in leaves and exocarps of the Campbell Early grape variety were determined by neutron activation analysis.
The samples were taken from grape trees of different age and nutrient conditions in a vineyard near Suwon.
Samples were irradiated for 10 minutes at a neutron flux about 10^(12)n/㎠, sec. in the reactor TRIGA MARK Ⅱ, at the Atomic Energy Research Institute.
The γ-emitting radioactivity was measured Scintillation detector and 400 channels pulse hight analyzer after I hour cooling time.
The results obtained are as follows:
Significant difference was shown between leaves and exocarps of the grape.
Contents of manganese in the exocarps were remarkably lower than that of the leaves.
There was, however, no difference in the age of tree. On the other hand, in the etiolated leaves, contents of manganese were significantly less than the normal leaves.
No obvious difference was found between the exocarps of diseased and normal fruits.
